About this piece
Bibhutibhushan’s Shankar Roy Chowdhury, the boy from a Bengal village who walked into the Kalahari and the Richtersveld after diamonds and the Chander Pahar. Rifle across the shoulder, pickaxe in hand, boots on the rock; compass, rope and a supply crate at his feet, a horned skull half-buried in the grass. Hand-cast in resin, brass-look চাঁদের পাহাড় · SHANKAR plate on the plinth.

How it is made
Each Shankar — Chander Pahar is 3D modelled, printed in resin at the size you choose, cleaned, cured, and then hand-painted one piece at a time in our Kolkata studio. Because the colour is laid on by hand, no two pieces are identical.
